From The Summit Chair’s Desk

Dear Friends,

I am really honoured and delighted to Chair The Lex Witness 5th Annual Banking and Finance Legal Summit 2018 scheduled for 6th July 2018 at JW Marriott, Juhu, Mumbai. The Summit will be a magnificent platform to exchange ideas and thoughts and discuss the various challenges that we face in the BFSI space. I believe that such discussions in the symposium will help the participants keep pace with the current trends, make significant contributions and enable us to better tackle the diverse challenges prevalent in the dynamic field of banking and finance.

Nowadays, business conduct has reached a whole new level where contributions from the legal fraternity have become not only inevitable but highly influential and demanding. The ever growing expectations from legal professionals to build and co-own business models has made our job very exciting, yet challenging. Thus, we may say that the role of legal professionals has changed drastically over the years in a manner that we no longer act as mere lawyers, but Jack-s of all Trades, wearing multiple hats such as that of a legal advisor, policy makers, risk assessor and facilitator of business growth and development and platforms like these give us opportunities to make a difference in the best possible manner.

Needless to state that the agenda for the Summit is of great relevance, well balanced and will help us have a reality check on the present statutory and regulatory regime. The agenda offers discussion and debate over a wide range of topics, right from IBC experience, to ever growing need of digitization in banking and financial sector, thereby promising a resourceful and productive learning session under the aegis of industry experts.

We are living in times which are ever changing and evolving and its far-reaching impact on the banking and finance field necessitates sharing of information and discussion. Our role also requires us to assist in policy making requiring immense knowledge and understanding of the market economics. Enriching sessions like these would help us cull out the various issues and voice our concerns and most importantly, it lays down a platform to share views that will help each one of us to develop innovative strategies and improve the way in which we conduct our businesses.

I am looking forward to meeting the participants and engaging in an interactive and enriching session.
